Robin Day 1950s Coffeestak table
Coffeestak table by Robin Day for Hille. Designed in 1951 this was one of Day’s first pieces for Hille. It features characteristic solid beech U-shaped legs that formed the basis for a number of tables, desks and chairs (Hillestak).
The simplicity and innovation of the design reflects Day’s economical approach to construction and materials, stemming from the austerity of post-war period.
The table has a very pleasing profile with the shaped legs and thin plywood veneered top. In has been sympathetically restored and is in excellent condition.
