Gazelle table by Ernest Race
A rare small Gazelle side table design by Ernest Race for Race Furniture.
According to the Hazel Conway book on Race this table was designed in 1958 for the Brussel's World Fair (along with the Unicorn chair) but it, or a variant, also appears in many photos from the 1951 Festival of Britain.
Steel rod base with plywood circular top. In original condition with clearly quite a bit of wear, the base has surface rust and the paint has almost completely worn off the top.
There is a small knocked area to one edge of the table (see photos). The top is strong though with no warping, delamination or worm. There are remnants of the circular Race table to the underside. All four original feet are present.
