Bernard Schottlander ceiling light
An incredibly rare ceiling lamp designed and made by Bernard Schottlander.
German born Schottlander is best known as a sculptor, but in the 1950s his design studio in London produced a series of lamps that proved very popular among post-war architects and the Council of Industrial Design. The lamps were all handmade and of strictly limited editions.
The lamp consists of 5 shades fixed to a metal star-shaped armature. The arms can be moved, rotating on the central hinge. Each shade is fully adjustable, tilting and rotating 360 degrees. The light has the original coloured cable for each shade.
The condition is overall good. Each shade has some scuffs, there are some minor dings and the interior of the shades have some oxidisation or paint roughness. The armature has some paint loss. Please ask for more detailed photographs. The original wiring is in good condition but the light has not been tested.
A true collector's piece of British lighting.
