1930s chest of drawers by P E Gane
Large oak chest of drawers made by P E Gane, Bristol and most likely designed by J P Hully. In the 1930s P E Gane was run by Crofton Gane who was a pioneer of Modernism in Britain, at one stage employing Marcel Breuer to design furniture, interiors and a show pavilion in Bristol. J P Hully would have almost certainly worked with Breuer at this time.
Nicely understated design, well made and heavy. Decent size with deep lower drawers make this chest particularly useful. One of the top drawers has the P E Gane label inside.
In excellent restored condition.
106.5cm wide x 47.25cm deep (+ handles) x 76.5cm high.
